Contact a Loan Administrator
The Mission Investment Fund recommends that congeregations and ELCA-related ministries contact a loan administrator before beginning the loan application process. Call 877.886.3522 toll-free. Loan information is also available from the MIF regional manager and church building consultant who serve your synod. New mission congregations interested in purchasing land or constructing an initial church building should contact their synod's Director for Evangelical Mission.
Expect a response within 15 business days
The Mission Investment Fund will respond to a complete loan application within 15 business days of receiving it.
- What criteria does the Mission Investment Fund use in evaluating loan applications? Generally, MIF gives loans to healthy ELCA congregations that reflect the demographics of the ministry's surrounding neighborhood. The Mission Investment Fund reviews a congregation's growth and financial history to develop a loan program that your congregation can repay in a mission-minded way.
- The Mission Investment Fund also reviews the ELCA Congregational Trend Report and your congregation's annual reports, future ministry plans, construction plans and other documents that you think will help MIF understand your ministry.
Make loan payments automatically. When your Mission Investment Fund loan is approved, your congregation or ministry can automatically have payments deducted from its checking account through Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions.
Congregations related to the ELCA Congregational and Synodical Mission program unit interested in purchasing land or building an initial church building should first contact their synod's Director for Evangelical Mission.
