A letter from the president
Published on June 2, 2025
As we reflect on the year behind us, we are reminded that the future we envision is already taking shape in the work we undertake today. Together, we are building a foundation that is not only strong and enduring, but also dynamic and responsive to the evolving needs of our ministries and communities. Much like a mosaic, where each distinct piece contributes to a greater design, the faithful commitment of our investors and the vision of our borrowers are creating a vibrant and unified expression of purpose and service.
In a financial environment marked by complexity and change, the Mission Investment Fund has remained a steady and trusted partner. Guided by disciplined stewardship, MIF continues to walk alongside congregations and ministries with confidence and compassion. Our financial strength allows us to extend support, not merely as a lender, but as a true partner in ministry, equipping our communities to thrive today and well into the future.
Throughout the year, we have witnessed powerful examples of transformation made possible through our shared efforts. Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp near Amery, Wisconsin, has long been a sacred space where faith and nature intersect. With MIF’s support, the camp has expanded its year-round programs, broadening its reach and deepening its spiritual impact for generations yet to come.
At Abiding Hope Lutheran Church in Littleton, Colorado, we see how visionary leadership can change lives. Its Nature School, with full enrollment and a growing waitlist, is creating inclusive learning environments for children of all abilities, offering a model of education rooted in dignity and belonging. Together, we are helping build communities that embrace every child and every family with open arms.
Beyond individual ministries, our mission echoes through the work of national partners like Global Refuge and Lutheran Services in America. For immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers, Global Refuge offers a lifeline—providing tools for new beginnings and affirming human dignity. Through Lutheran Services in America, we support a network that provides critical services to individuals and families at each stage of their life, offering hope and opportunity to those most vulnerable. These ministries embody the expansive reach of our call to serve, inspiring us to imagine—and realize—a future where no one is left unseen or unsupported.
The stories featured later in this report represent just a fraction of the impact we are making together. With the faithful partnership of more than 11,300 investors and 737 ministry borrowers, we are nurturing communities of faith, resilience, and compassion. We are helping to lay a foundation that reflects Christ’s enduring call to love and serve—and that foundation is not only holding strong but reaching forward, ready to support the ministries of tomorrow.
As we look ahead, the deepening collaboration between the Mission Investment Fund and the ELCA Federal Credit Union is a bold step toward expanding and enhancing our capacity for service. By aligning our strengths thoughtfully and strategically, we are creating a framework that will enable individuals, congregations, and ministries to access the financial tools they need for long-term stability and growth. With care, conviction, and clarity of purpose, we are preparing for a future where financial services and faithful service move forward hand in hand.
Thank you for the trust you place in us, for your steadfast partnership, and for the hope you inspire. Guided by faith and energized by community, we move forward—working for the good of all and building a future rooted in service, strengthened by hope, and sustained by grace.
With deep gratitude,
Eva M. Roby
